Speedy Fuels is London’s leading supplier of AdBlue diesel fuel additive.
HGV’s are required, by law, to use AdBlue solution since new regulations were rolled out to help reduce the CO2 emissions of the country. In October 2006, the EU introduced a law requiring vehicle manufacturers to reduce the amount of pollutants in the atmosphere. This resulted in a process known as SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) being introduced requiring the use of AdBlue in all Euro IV and Euro V vehicles weighing over 7.5 tonnes.
What is AdBlue?
AdBlue is an aqueous urea solution made from 32.5% high purity urea and 67.5% deionised water. It is also known as diesel exhaust fluid or AUS32. The German Association of the Automobile Industry (VDA) own the trademark for AdBlue. The VDA ensures quality standards are maintained in accordance with ISO 2241 specifications.
How is AdBlue used?
AdBlue is used in a process known as SCR, which eliminates nitrogen oxides (NOx) released in diesel engine exhaust emissions. Large vehicles have a designated AdBlue tank in which the solution is stored. This is then injected into the exhaust (at a rate of 2% of the diesel consumption volume) as it moves through the engine. It then vaporises and decomposes to form ammonia and carbon dioxide. The ammonia breaks the NOx down to form water and nitrogen, which are both harmless to the environment and released through the exhaust.
How much AdBlue can I buy?
AdBlue Suppliers like Speedy Fuels offer DEF in following measures;
- 10 litres
- 210 litres
- 1,000 litres

Is AdBlue safe to handle?
The urea within AdBlue can corrode some metals and must be transported and stored with care. AdBlue requires specialist handling and it is advisable that you speak to member of our team for information regarding the dispensation of the product. We recommend that you store AdBlue in a cool and well-ventilated area and in an appropriate tank.
